What is yoga?
Yoga is a system of physical, mental, and spiritual practices, the purpose of which is increasing awareness and decreasing disease.
Why practice yoga?
Yoga builds bone and core strength and improves flexibility. A regular yoga practice will, over time, help your body become stronger and more flexible. In addition, Yoga’s positive effects on the body have a positive effect on the mind, building resilience and a calmer outlook towards life’s daily pressures.
How is Iyengar Yoga different to other types of yoga?
Iyengar Yoga is characterised by high attention to detail and specific focus on body alignment.
Iyengar yoga uses props such as blankets, chairs, belts, cushions, straps, wooden blocks and benches to support the body in performing the positions. Props compensate for limitations in strength, flexibility and mobility and also protect the joints and promote circulation. This minimises the risk of injury and makes yoga accessible to everyone.
For everyone looking for Iyengar yoga in the Tweed Valley, we offer a welcoming, friendly and supportive space for you to enjoy the many benefits of Iyengar yoga.
